Bell tells customers to fuck off

It should be "Customers insist throttling Bell is necessary"

More corporate bullying this time from our friends at Bell. There's an internet war going on up here in Canada, as semi-monopolies vie for who can screw consumers first.

A great mistake was made when we gave over access to the net to these people. Now they think they own it and can control it. And just try and find an alternative in the Toronto area...

I'm waiting....

Bell Canada says it is downgrading the Internet services of bandwidth hogs, and is asking the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to toss out a landmark complaint by competitors.

The Canadian Association of Internet Providers has asked the federal regulator to issue an immediate cease and desist order to stop the telecom giant from "throttling" the web traffic on its networks. Bell, in its response made public Wednesday, says it has no choice but to slow down the services of Internet customers who use up a lot of bandwidth to share files during peak hours....

...Last month, Bell informed smaller Internet Service Providers that it was bringing in traffic-shaping policies on the network space it sells to them, effectively downgrading the services these smaller companies are able to provide to their customers.
