IOC chief: Games meant to advance human rights

And the award for epic naiveté goes to the IOC chief:

Olympic chief Jacques Rogge said Thursday that the controversial Olympic torch relay would go ahead but admitted that the International Olympic Committee had hoped that awarding the Games to Beijing would "advance the social agenda of China, including human rights..."

"We were saddened by what we saw in London and Paris. We were sad for the athletes and torch bearers. We were sad for the children who watched their heroes and role models being booed"...

It ain't the runners or athletes they're booing, it's China.

And rightly so.
