Monopoly, Toronto and the usual whining

Monopoly...Toronto...and it's not even about Rogers!

Toronto is swankier than the Polish seaport of Gdynia, but not as magnificent as Montreal, if a Monopoly board is any measure of city status.

Five million people voted in a worldwide poll to choose cities for the new World Edition Monopoly game board, to be released next week.

Montreal received the most votes and won the coveted position of Boardwalk, beating out London, New York and Paris. Toronto won the spot normally occupied by Virginia Ave., among the middling magenta colours.

"Nobody lands on Boardwalk," said Mayor David Miller at a news conference yesterday at Ontario Place for the release of the board.

Wow, the Mayor is back in town? Not on vacation? I guess when Toronto's board game honour is at stake, vacation be damned!
