If, as the late Pierre Berton observed, "a Canadian is someone who knows how to make love in a canoe," it might well be wondered who else but a Canadian would want to?
Think of it: canoes are tippy, scratchy, skinny and tend to collect all manner of icky, natural-born detritus in their bottoms. Not to mention the question of where to put your paddle. Boinking in one would not only be challenging but somewhere way downstream from fun, but maybe that's why Berton's quote has such timeless resonance. Traditionally, Canadians have liked to keep sex and fun on distant shores from each other.
