Peter Worthington: Championing Toronto's Homophobic community

It's good to know that that oppressed group, Toronto's Homophobic community, have found a voice.

Yet another of Toronto's media who

a) are delighted by Mayor Ford snub
b) seem not to understand the dangerous message the Mayor is sending some of his more unfeeling supporters.
c) do understand it and endorse it

Why should Mayor Rob Ford attend Toronto’s Pride Parade if he doesn’t want to? He never attended as a councillor, so why be hypocritical and attend as mayor?

He signed the proclamation declaring Pride Week, and has done nothing overt to alienate Toronto’s homosexual community, so why criticize him for opting to spend time at the family cottage at Huntsville?

It’s probably true that Ford has no particular affection towards the annual Pride Parade, just as it’s fair to say that most of Toronto’s gay community probably didn’t want him elected as mayor.

Ford attending the parade means absolutely nothing — and maybe would be evidence of phony pandering if he did attend. He’s a different cat than Mel Lastman who, when he was mayor, pretended to be a good sport and made an ass of himself mugging and posturing.

The silver lining of all this is that people like Mr. Worthington have put their vile hatred in writing for the world to see, delighting other thugs readers everywhere and preserving it for prosperity.
