Mayor Ford succeeds in bringing Toronto's homophobes to full flower

We are ruled by the petty. As long as they can make life just a little unpleasant for those they don't agree with, then it's Mission Accomplished.

Mayor Ford's decision to not march in this year's Pride is a carefully crafted message to us all, a message Ford Nation has received loud clear, as these comments on CBC show:

dennismckeown: Good for him.

HOMARE: I think he clearly made the right decision.

two_cents: Good for you man! I too wouldn't wanna be in that infested environment downtown either.

anamcara2: Why should they be disapointed?
A choice is a choice is a choice. Even the mayor of TO gets to chose. A long standing family tradition should take precedance over a parade.

VR in Oshawa: "coded homophobic language"?? Really?

Wanting to stay away from an event that one finds unappealing and offensive due to it's very public display of very private sexual preferences means one is homophobic??

Get a dictionary

Etc etc, pages and pages of uninformed nonsense from Ford supporters.

Dumb is the new smart. Get used to it, as these unthinking types are in the ascendancy.

Mayor Ford is testing the waters here, seeing if his divisive stance will play politically. If it does, defunding Pride is next.

Count on it. Modern conservatives don't like you, and will bend over backwards to let you know it.
