Mark Day: Idiot of the Day

But we must keep a perspective. Rupert Murdoch's greatest "crime" is his success.

What? Ha..ha ha..HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok, I'm better now.

Throughout his 57 years as News Corporation head he has unashamedly aimed the company's products at mass audiences. And mass audiences have bought them -- millions of newspapers every week, television series such as The Simpsons, consumed and loved around the world; movies such as Titanic and Avatar -- two of the highest grossing films ever made.

This mass focus has prompted arguments that Murdoch has therefore "dumbed down" society. This is elitist rubbish from those who believe the pursuit of the popular is a cancer on society and only they can discern the difference between popular and important. They argue that Murdoch is biased and causing a sub-class of ignoramuses to be led by the nose. This insults the intelligence of every person who chooses to buy a News product.

Yes, as it should.
