Montreal's Mayor Tremblay ignores local residents to allow condo

Mayor Tremblay favoring developers over citizens? Again?

The mobilization of citizens against the transformation of the former convent Mont-Jésus-Marie in luxury condos have been futile. The Tremblay administration has decided to withdraw the regulation should be a referendum this fall, allowing the developer Group F. Catania to go ahead with the project. Furious, the opponents are now considering going to court to block the project.

Citizens rarely win these things, it's very difficult to break up the dirty dance between local governments and greedy developers. Too much money at stake.
