Singer John Mayer has apologised for his remarks in a magazine interview in which he called former girlfriend Jessica Simpson "sexual napalm".
Speaking to Playboy magazine Mayer, 32, also attracted widespread criticism for his use of an offensive racial term.
"I should have never said the word and I will never say it again, said Mayer, writing on micro-blogging site Twitter.
"It's time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews... I wanted to be a blues guitar player... not a shock jock.
