Google to China: F*ck You

Google responds to cyber attacks "on our corporate infrastructure originating from China that resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google".

These attacks and the surveillance they have uncovered--combined with the attempts over the past year to further limit free speech on the web--have led us to conclude that we should review the feasibility of our business operations in China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China.

It's about time. There is little doubt (let's just call it a fact) that the Chinese govt has been sponsoring 'independent' hackers for a long time. If I were big at Google, I would advocate blanketing all of China with political content the Maofascists wouldn't like at all. There is an enormous disconnect in China between what goes on in the Peoples' Congress and how the nation proceeds economically. The PC keeps to the old Maoist party line while the rest of the nation becomes supercapitalist. It's odd. China gives lip service to its communist past (and supposed present) but really practices the most repressive (and most successful) brand of fascism on earth. At the very least, I think Google should work to break that fascist hold--somehow--give them sh*t at every turn--work constantly to f*ck them up.
Finally, we must revoke China's Most Favored Nation status. China has not behaved like an honest trading partner--far from it. Revoke it and we'll also lose another enemy of the American people, Walmart.
