The story should read that Obama met with the Dalai Lama. Way way down in the last paragraph it should say China has a problem with it.
Instead, BBC gives China a place of honour...
Obama holds talks with Dalai Lama despite China protest
US President Barack Obama has held private talks with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, despite strong criticism from China.
Mr Obama told the Dalai Lama of his "strong support" for human rights in Tibet, a White House statement said.
Beijing released an angry statement saying the meeting had damaged relations between the two countries.
They always say that, until money is involved.
China, your tantrums are getting old.

China: Britain meddling over Dalai Lama
This story exactly mirrors a similar one (read more here) from last fall then our Canadian government had the nerve to act independently from China's wishes.
The reaction again is pure Chinese fake outrage...
China lashed out Saturday at British Prime Minister Gordon Brown for meeting the Dalai Lama, accusing Britain of ignoring Chinese interests and interfering in its affairs.
China's Foreign Ministry said Britain allowed the Friday meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader and a separate meeting with members of Parliament despite Beijing's objections.
"This interferes in China's internal affairs and hurts the Chinese people's feelings as well," spokesman Qin Gang said in a statement on the Foreign Ministry's Web site.

"Tibet is Chinese business, and none of yours"
Anonymous comment (of course) left on this blog regarding my position on Tibet
all my life I have always tried to be kind to people. One kind of people I always feel like strangling are those who are self-righteous and arrogant at the same time. You, Protogenes, make my blood boil. I do feel like strangling you. Move along, you. Tibet is Chinese business, and none of yours.
"self-righteous and arrogant". Bullseye sir. You should hear what the world's saying about you.
I do feel the issues are sometimes bigger than countries, and at times the world must intervene when a wrong is being committed.
So if China is doing wrong, then "Tibet is the World's business, and none of China's" would be a more contemporary response.
China doesn't like foreign intervention in their affairs?...ummm sound familar?
"make my blood boil. I do feel like strangling you". Nice...And you wonder why we look upon China with...concern?
Btw sir, this is my blog, I can say what I please here. It's you who should move along.
Oh look! Tanks!

Tibet WAS,IS,and ALWAYS WILL BE a part of China
Giving the other side in the Tibet "debate", we present this little gem. Note the calm rational tone throughout.

Regarding the riots in Lhasa
Via Global Voices Online, following the Chinese reaction to events in Tibet:
经常在新闻中看到伊拉克战争,或是哪里又发生袭击事件,当时我就在里面感慨,还是做中国人幸福,至少是和平的,至少不会会有战争,至少人们不用生活在对战争的恐惧中!但今天发生在西藏的暴乱事件,却让我深深的感觉到,原来也有些人不想让我们中国平静、和平!不知道以后别的国家的人在看到我们中国的战争新闻时,是不是和我当初看伊拉克战争时的心情与感慨一样!
I often see the news about the war in Iraq, or attacks happening somewhere, and at the time I just sigh inside, reminded how lucky I am to be Chinese, where here it's at least peaceful, at least there are no battles, and people don't have to live their lives in fear of battle! But the riots which took place in Tibet today just make me see very clearly that in fact some people don't want our China to be a calm and peaceful place! I wonder, when people in other countries see the news about our battles here in China, will they feel the same thing that I did when I saw the news on Iraq?
Interesting isn't it, that which we see as repression is seen by this Chinese writer as "people [who] don't want our China to be a calm and peaceful place!"
We will be greeted as liberators...

Motherfucking Chinese in Tibet

Why is anyone going to the Olympics this year?
Personally I despise the Chinese government. I can still say so, I don't owe them money.

China says Canada-Dalai Lama meeting "disgusting"
Oooo, someone's having a tantrum.
It's fun to watch repressive regimes try and get all huffy when they can't use guns to make their point.
Observe:
China condemned Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Tuesday for "disgusting conduct" for playing host to the Dalai Lama and demanded that Ottawa stop supporting anti-Chinese activities by exiled Tibetans.
Harper defied China on Monday by receiving Tibet's exiled spiritual leader in his office in Parliament, with television cameras and photographers present. He presented the 1989 Nobel laureate with a maple-leaf scarf.
"It's gross interference in China's internal affairs. The Chinese side expresses its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao declared.
"This disgusting conduct has seriously hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and undermined Sino-Canadian relations," Liu told a regular news briefing.
"The Chinese side demands the Canadian side ... correct its mistaken conduct, immediately adopt effective measures to eliminate adverse impact (from the meeting) and stop winking at or supporting anti-Chinese activities by Tibetan forces."
China, always a barrel of fun!
*I've got 5 little fingers, and one of them's for you!*
