Two Canadian teachers who wanted a memento of their trip to Auschwitz have been arrested by Polish police for stealing pins from the camp's railway track, according to reports.
The two male teachers were caught in possession of retaining pins used to hold down the rails which once transported hundreds of thousands to their death.
"The men were caught red handed by security and handed over to the police by the museum," said Bartosz Bartyzel, for the Auschwitz museum press office. He added that while the pins had no material value they were of "enormous historical value".
Of course there are the brain dead who don't see a problem (as this commenter from Digg illustrates):
This case stinks of overreacting people, This is similar to when people started getting arrested for taking rocks from the great wall of china back home to say "I have part of the great wall with me." I understand that It is of historical value however it is not hurting anyone or damaging the area, they just picked up two bolts probably some long nail like object that would have rusted and be destroyed over time. They should be fined for their actions, arresting them just seems too harsh for a misunderstanding like that.
The stupid, it burns!
