Australia the Net Nanny State keeps abreast of concerns

Australia, daily adding to the perception that censors are the ones with the issues...

Any pretense from the Australian Government that its proposed internet filter will not extend to millions of sites has died with news that the Government has banned small breasts and female ejaculation in adult material.

The ban (RC) on small breasted women in adult publications has been made by the Australian Classification Board allegedly on the grounds that such images could be construed as child pornography, even where those publications comply with American law and keep certification that performers are over 18.

Female ejaculation has been banned on the incredible grounds that “the depictions are a form of urination which is banned under the label of ‘golden showers’ in the Classification Guidelines” and/or “Female ejaculation is an ‘abhorrent’ depiction.” Notably here male ejaculation is completely legal under the same guidelines, attracting an X rating in Australia.

Woohoo Australia, FYI, you look like idiots on a global scale. Just saying.

Fire in Houston blamed on inflatable gorilla

Fire department officials said an out-of-control inflatable gorilla was blamed for a rooftop blaze at a Houston shopping center. No injuries were reported in the fire early Thursday. The remnants of the inflatable gorilla were seen at the site.

District Chief Fred Hooker said some type of a "blowup doll" was on the roof, the item deflated and landed on some lights, leading to the fire.

Paul Shirley: Today's Scum of the Earth

"I haven’t donated to the Haitian relief effort for the same reason that I don't give money to homeless men on the street," he wrote. "Based on past experiences, I don't think the guy with the sign that reads 'Need You're Help' is going to do anything constructive with the dollar I might give him. If I use history as my guide, I don't think the people of Haiti will do much with my money either."

I am a journalist. The truth shall set me free.

Maybe, but conservative defence fund money will help more.

Twitter, the place where the idiotic can distil the idiocy down to 140 characters, has produced the above pearl of wisdom from arrested, ahum, journalist James O'Keefe.

Someone sit this genius down and make him watch "All The President's Men", will ya?

A conservative filmmaker who posed as a pimp to target the liberal activist group ACORN was arrested with the son of a federal prosecutor and two other men and accused of plotting to tamper with the New Orleans offices of Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.

Activist James O'Keefe, 25, recorded two of the other suspects with his cell phone as they walked into the office dressed like telephone repairmen and said they needed to fix problems with the phone system, according to an FBI affidavit.

McDonald's fires employee over cheese slice

A McDonald's outlet in the Netherlands was wrong to sack an employee for giving a colleague a piece of cheese on a hamburger, a court has ruled.

The waitress was fired last March after she sold a hamburger to a co-worker who then asked for cheese, which she added.

The fast-food chain argued this turned the hamburger into a cheeseburger, and so she should have charged more.

But Leeuwarden district court ruled a written warning would have been more appropriate...

...the court said in its written judgement: "The dismissal was too severe a measure. It is just a slice of cheese,"

Olathe Northwest: Idiots of the Day

He shoots, he scores. Sort of. Olathe Northwest girls basketball coach and science teacher, Joel Branstrom, was slated to be the center of a school joke, until he did the impossible and stunned the entire student body.

In an attempt to spoof College Humor's Prank Wars Half Court Million Dollar Shot, the school told Branstrom if he made a half-court shot while blindfolded, he would win NCAA tickets. However, the school never had NCAA tickets to give him, as they never expected him to make the shot. Not only did he make it, he sunk it. Nothing but net, baby.

Cough up those tickets, morons.

UK Police to citizenry: F*ck you

Actions speak louder than words, and this action gives a valuable insight into what police think of the public...

Police in the UK are planning to use unmanned spy drones, controversially deployed in Afghanistan, for the "routine" monitoring of antisocial motorists, protesters, agricultural thieves and fly-tippers, in a significant expansion of covert state surveillance.

The arms manufacturer BAE Systems, which produces a range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for war zones, is adapting the military-style planes for a consortium of government agencies led by Kent police

TTC union re sleeping collector: It's the public's fault, duh

The president of the TTC workers' union says it is “disturbing” that a transit rider snapped a photo of what appears to be a sleeping ticket collector instead of checking to see whether the worker was okay.

“The guy could have had a heart attack. He could've had an aneurysm. He could have been a diabetic,” said Bob Kinnear, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113, which represents more than 9,000 TTC employees. “Seventy-five per cent of them are down there [in the collection booth] for medical reasons. It wouldn't be the first time we've had collectors collapse.”

A picture of the collector, reclining in a booth with his eyes closed, head back and mouth open, has become an Internet sensation since it was posted Thursday.

Public to TTC: Fuck you.

Spartacus Blood and Sand

ouch

Oh don't worry, he'll be fine. That's our hero, Spartacus. You should see the other guy.

"Spartacus Blood and Sand" is so over the top, so pornographically violent, so juvenilely written, it manages to make HBO's Rome seem intelligent.

It so wants to be "300" and "Gladiator", it dresses up in their clothes, but can't pull it off.

Caveat emptor.

Pastor Martin Ssempa: Sick F*ck of the Day

Pastor Martin Ssempa on Tuesday plumbed the depths of notoriety when he offered graphic images of gay sex as proof of the need for tough penalties against homosexuals.

But midway through his presentation, saved on a computer, most of his audience walked out, some visibly disturbed, leaving him to wonder if he had done anything wrong. The cleric seemed genuinely rattled when he asked: “Why should I be traumatised?”

Thousands protest Harper

The Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament (CAPP) protest in Toronto featured an impressive turnout, with police estimating anywhere between 10,000 and 12,000 people in attendance (note: some estimates have the turnout at only 3000). Beginning with a rally at Yonge-Dundas square, the protesters eventually took to the streets shortly after 2 p.m., drawing a loop that took them over to City Hall and then across College St. before returning to their original location.

U.S. corporations can now f*ck over the voters much more freely

How naive of me. Here I thought: corporations make stuff, I buy it if I want, end of story, stay out of our lives after that, thanks awfully.

The geniuses in the U.S. Supreme Court see the Universe* through different eyes...

*a Universe that actually thinks corporations are people. What kind of messed up lunatic would come up with an idea like that...oh right...

The Supreme Court threw out a 63-year-old law designed to restrain the influence of big business and unions on elections Thursday, ruling that corporations may spend as freely as they like to support or oppose candidates for president and Congress. The decision could drastically alter who gives and gets hundreds of millions of dollars in this year's crucial midterm elections.

Dumb White People: All White Basketball League

A new professional basketball league boasting rosters made up exclusively of white Americans has its eyes set on Augusta, but the team isn't receiving a warm welcome.

The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team.

"Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement said.

Obama backs RIAA's obscene fine

The little people have to be taught who's in charge, don't ya know.

The Obama administration is backing $675,000 in damages a Massachusetts student must pay the Recording Industry Association of America for file sharing 30 songs.

The Justice Department, where President Barack Obama has tapped five former RIAA lawyers to serve, said copyright infringement “creates a public harm that Congress determined must be deterred.”

They really have no shame left, now do they.
