Gingrich continues plunge to the bottom of the barrel

On Sunday, he followed that up by saying he would be willing to arrest a judge who he thought was out of line.

"If you had to," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation" when asked if he would send a Capitol Hill police officer to round up a judge, "or you would instruct the Justice Department to send the U.S. Marshal." His preference, he added, would be to impeach the judge in question.

It was in Toronto recently, while temporarily resuming my semi-charmed kind of life there and briefly ditching the other semi-charmed half in Kingston, that I realized how much in need the modern male of the species is of some toughening up.

The bull terrier and I were on a long forced march on the toney part of Yonge Street, in Rosedale.

There were a couple of boys, maybe 10 years old, maybe 12, walking ahead of me. Coming towards them was another small knot of boys about the same age.

The two groups met, and immediately began hugging each another, one at a time. The trustees and ding-dongs at the Toronto District School Board would have been ecstatic; I was mortified and appalled.

Rob Ford's dumber brother Doug wants schools to teach Ultimate Fighting

Conservatives love to butch it up. Oooo you're such a brute.

Councillor Doug Ford’s office has suggested Toronto schools look into a community service program backed by the violent mixed martial arts league, Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In an email obtained by the Star, Ford’s constituency assistant, Anna Vescio, asked a Toronto District School Board trustee to circulate a brochure touting an initiative called UFC Community Works.

According to the brochure, the program promotes “the development of discipline, respect, teamwork, honesty, time management and physical fitness” through mixed martial arts training and meetings with UFC fighters.

UFC has become notorious for its brutal, bloody, no-holds barred fighting. Mixed martial arts events were banned in Ontario until this year.

A South African fast food chain has withdrawn a TV advert which pokes fun at Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe as "the last dictator standing".

Nando's South Africa said it decided to act after receiving threats to its staff in Zimbabwe from a youth group loyal to Mr Mugabe.

Toronto Councillor and elected thug Giorgio Mammoliti backs off effort to defund Pride

He's just aiming his sights on next year. A homophobe's work is never done.

Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti is conceding that hundreds of thousands of dollars of Pride funding already promised to organizers for 2011 will likely be delivered.

Mammoliti sent a release to media outlets Monday detailing his stance on publicly funded parades and marches. He had been expected to put forward a motion Tuesday to withhold the nearly $130,000 in grant money already committed to Pride organizers.

Mammoliti’s watchful eyes are not resting solely on Pride.

“I have to congratulate the Pride Parade and the organizers because what they’ve done is they’ve opened up the eyes of City Hall to the larger picture. City taxpayers’ dollars should not be going towards any venue, including marches and parades, that have a political message slant to them.”

Mammoliti confirmed that if it were up to him, this would include funding for any artistic endeavour with a political message.



Yet they can hire Don Cherry to spew out his nonsense at the start of Mayor Ford's time in office.

Toronto police officer avoids jail in Taser case..what a shock

Officer acts like some thug in a 3rd world satire, and gets...wait for it...

A Toronto police officer has avoided jail time for threatening a handcuffed suspect with a Taser.

A Toronto police officer received a conditional discharge and was ordered to perform community service after he threatened to taser a robbery suspect. (CBC)
Christopher Hominuk received a conditional discharge and was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.

Hominuk pleaded guilty to one count of threatening bodily harm in February 2011.

In May 2010, the 38-year-old officer was captured by his cruiser's on board camera hitting a burglary suspect, pressing a taser into the man's groin and threatening to shock him.

Moments later he is seen threatening to shock a second suspect, this time pressing the taser into the suspect's neck.

The incidents may never have come to light, court was told, had it not been for Hominuk's supervisor, who happened to review the camera's contents by chance days later and launched an investigation.

Hominuk's lawyers maintained the officer was a victim of hypoglycemia and that the diabetic reaction was responsible for the officer's behaviour...Justice Hugh Fraser noted Hominuk was over-tired, and had missed a meal that day causing his blood sugar to drop.

China continues its revolting detention of Ai Weiwei

Why does the world take this bully China seriously..oh right, they're fucking rich.

Ai Weiwei's wife has been able to meet the detained artist and activist for the first time since he went missing 43 days ago, a relative said today.

No one had been able to contact the 53-year-old since officials stopped him at Beijing airport on 3 April.

But his sister, Gao Ge, said police took Ai's wife, Lu Qing, to meet him at an undisclosed location on Sunday night. She was able to see and speak to him briefly and reported that he seemed healthy and was being given access to the medication he needs for diabetes.

Christine O'Donnel and her little thug

The Christine O'Donnell campaign is apologizing to WDEL after it demanded that video of an O'Donnell appearance on "The Rick Jensen Show" be destroyed and threatened a lawsuit if it wasn't.

Elect people like this at your peril.

O'Donnell's campaign manager, Matt Moran, called WDEL and demanded that the video be immediately turned over to the campaign and destroyed. Moran threatened to "crush WDEL" with a lawsuit if the station didn't comply.

An attorney representing the O'Donnell campaign contacted WDEL's law firm Hogan Lovells and initially asked that the video not be released. WDEL's attorney asserted that the interview and video were in compliance with all applicable laws, was clearly protected free speech under the First Amendment, and that the campaign had no grounds to demand the station withhold it from the public.

After seeing the video the attorney for the O'Donnell campaign contacted WDEL's counsel again to apologize for charges made by their campaign manager. The attorney agreed that there was no legal issue with the video and expressed regret for the incident.

Free speech under attack in Sweden

More religious thugs using force to silence those they don't agree with.

Lars Vilks, a Swedish cartoonist whose sketch of the Prophet Muhammad enraged many Muslims, was head-butted today while giving a lecture about freedom of speech.

Vilks, who depicted the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog in 2007, said he was assaulted by a man sitting on the front row as he spoke at the University of Uppsala, about 70 kilometers from Stockholm.

A spokesman for the Uppsala police said about 20 people tried to attack Vilks after interrupting his lecture, adding that the police had to intervene to stop them. Two people were detained.

Vilks was not immediately available to comment further. He says he has received death threats since his Prophet sketch.
