Police in Moorhead, Minnesota: Scumbags of the Day

Stacy Knutson, a server at the Fryn' Pan Restaurant in Moorhead, got the tip back in November from a customer who left a takeout box inside the restaurant.

Knutson followed the customer out to parking lot and tried to give her the box but the woman told her to keep it. When Knutson opened it, she found $12,000 in cash.

Knutson, a mother of five, called local police and turned in the cash as lost property.

At first, police said the cash would be hers if it remained unclaimed for 60 days, according to the lawsuit Knutson filed against the department.

At the end of the 60 days, however, the department told Knutson she would have to wait another 30 days to get the money.

Then police told her she would not receive the money at all because it smelled of marijuana and had been seized under a state law.

NYC police murder teenager over small amount of pot

This madness has got to stop.

Ramarley Graham, an 18-year-old teenager, was killed in his home on East 229th Street in the Bronx last week by plainclothes narcotics cops. Graham, who was unarmed, was shot in the chest as he was trying to flush a small amount of weed down the toilet, as his terrified grandmother and 6-year-old brother watched from a few feet away.

LA Cop Punches Defenseless Mentally Ill Homeless Woman in Face

Jermaine Green recorded this cop punching a mentally ill homeless woman in the face on the bus in Hawaiian Gardens, CA (Los Angeles County.) When the police realized that they were being recorded they demanded that Jermaine Green give them his cell phone, or they would arrest him. He took the sim card out of the phone without them noticing, and put it in his mouth, and gave the sim card to his wife while kissing her, just before handing the phone to the police.

RCMP in B.C.: Idiots of the Day

RCMP now admit they were keeping tabs on a Grand Forks, B.C. graffiti artist.

Dion Nordick found two surveillance cameras hidden in trees near his trailer home in June. He took them down and found pictures of himself and friends coming and going from his home.

Nordick also found hundreds of pictures of drug busts, suicides and assaults that hadn't been erased from the internal memory card.

The RCMP now admit the cameras were initially installed to monitor a suspected grow-op. Staff Sgt. Dan Seibel says when police searched the home, they found no plants, but did find graffiti stencils and paint.

Officers then installed two new cameras to watch Dion Nordick, a suspected graffiti artist.

Seibel says the graffiti artist allegedly had been tagging Grand Forks with a logo bearing guns and the word "dissent."

Comments on story are filled with people who truly find graffiti disturbing. Bizarre.

Thuggish police wielding pepper spray at the University of California

Under pressure to resign, the chancellor of the University of California, Davis, established a task force Saturday to look into an incident where a police officer sprayed seated protesters with pepper spray at point blank range.

Linda Katehi told CNN's Don Lemon that she considered the police action on Friday "unacceptable," but stressed she has no plans to step down.

"We really want to look into this very carefully and take action ... make sure that it will never happen again on our campus," she said.

Katehi said the task force made of faculty, students and staff will review the events and provide a report within 90 days.

90 days? Don't make me laugh.

The *brave* office in question is one Lt. John Pike, who appears to have made $110,243.12 in 2010 to be so noble.

Gatineau police: Massively Incompetent police of the Day

[A] YouTube video is raising some disturbing questions about the judgment and training of police in Gatineau, Canada. The police are shown responding to a call of an escaped calf by shooting the animal about a dozen times.

The horrific scene has left many asking why the police could not throw a rope around the animal or use a tranquilizer gun rather than move immediately from bovine to beef.

Best bullshit:

Const. Pierre Lanthier defended the action, saying police “have to decide if it’s threatening for the population” and, in this case, determined that “they had no choice but to shoot the animal.”

NYC police in yet another PR disaster

The descriptions of this video don't seem to be entirely accurate ["Close Your Bank Account and Get Arrested!"]. Protesters inside the bank are trying to close their accounts, and gets the bank all freaked out.

This poor woman then comes along to do some banking..

Opps.

All those big brave officers take down a dangerous woman who dares to try to be a CitiBank customer.

No wonder police hate video.

Taser kills yet someone else

A student has died after being shot with a Taser by campus police.

Everette Howard, from Cincinatti, went into cardiac arrest after being struck by the stun gun after police were responding to reports of an assault.

The 18-year-old, who was due to attend the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky, was said to have approached a campus police officer with clenched fists.

Authorities at the University of Cincinnati said he was told to remain still, but continued to walk towards the campus officer.

Everette was struck once by the Taser which can discharge an electric shock of up to 50,000 volts.

Officer Bubbles move over, the Renton Washington police are even dumber than you

These morons will not learn that keeping quiet would done them far more good.

The Nazi references in the above video's introduction are way over the top, but is posted so you can judge the offending video for yourselves.

The Renton City Prosecutor wants to send a cartoonist to jail for mocking the police department in a series of animated Internet videos.

The "South-Park"-style animations parody everything from officers having sex on duty to certain personnel getting promoted without necessary qualifications. While the city wants to criminalize the cartoons, First Amendment rights advocates say the move is an "extreme abuse of power."

And a move of epic stupidity, as scores more will see and hear about this video.

Anarchy in the U.K.

What should you do if you discover an anarchist living next door? Dust off your old Sex Pistols albums and hang out a black and red flag to make them feel at home? Invite them round to debate the merits of Peter Kropotkin's anarchist communism versus the individualist anarchism of Emile Armand? No – the answer, according to an official counter-terrorism notice circulated in London last week, is that you must report them to police immediately.

This was the surprising injunction from the Metropolitan Police issued to businesses and members of the public in Westminster last week. There was no warning about other political groups, but next to an image of the anarchist emblem, the City of Westminster police's "counter terrorist focus desk" called for anti-anarchist whistleblowers stating: "Anarchism is a political philosophy which considers the state undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful, and instead promotes a stateless society, or anarchy. Any information relating to anarchists should be reported to your local police."

And who do you report to when you think your local police are acting like paranoid numbskulls?

Derry police: Idiots of the Day

A Castlederg man has rejected an apology from the police after they interrupted his wedding on suspicion it was "a sham marriage".

The police wrongly arrested Neil McElwee and his pregnant fiancee, Yanan Sun, moments before the ceremony at the Guildhall in Londonderry on Tuesday.

Chief Inspector John Burrows said the police had acted in good faith, but sometimes they got things wrong.

Mr McElwee said "sorry" would not make up for the distress caused.

The couple were taken to a police station, forced to dress in forensic clothing and separated.

They were held for five hours and only released when their solicitor got involved. They were married the next day in nearby Castlederg.

The police told the couple they were acting on an anonymous tip-off.

They have accepted that they made a mistake and have apologised.

Have they accepted they are flaming idiots and a world wide laughing stock?

Montreal police kill bystander

Police have released the name of a 36-year-old man who died after being shot by police in Montreal's downtown core.

Patrick Limoges was on his way to work at St. Luc Hospital when he was killed by a stray bullet, after police opened fire on a man they were pursuing near the corner of St-Denis and Ste-Catherine streets.

Employees at the hospital didn't want to publicly speak to media, but said the death is shocking and that they feel any one of them could have been the one killed.

Aww quit whining. The police got to kill their homeless guy, didn't they...?

And anyway, the police are investigating the police, so we should get to bottom of this in no time....

Let me save some time, shall I?

Headline in six months: "Montreal police cleared in shooting"

There, such a time saver.

Washington DC Police and Charlie Sheen: Idiots of the Day

How anyone can think this loser is someone to admire is beyond me.

Police in Washington DC are investigating who authorised a controversial high-speed police escort for actor Charlie Sheen.

He was apparently escorted from an airport outside the city to his stage show, Violent Torpedo of Truth: Defeat is Not an Option, on Tuesday.

Police chief Cathy Lanier told a local TV station the escort appeared to violate department policy.

Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said the department was investigating.

Sheen posted a photo to Twitter of a speedometer reaching about 80mph (129km/h) and wrote: "In car with Police escort in front and rear! Driving like someone's about to deliver a baby! Cop car lights #Spinning!"

Mesquite Police Department: Sick F*cks of the Day

Officer pepper sprays a baby squirrel. More young people's opinion of the Law scared for life.

Let's let the department speak for itself:

Mesquite Police Department has defended the officer's actions.

Sgt. Wes Talley said the officer stood between a group of students and the animal because he thought it may have been rabid.

Talley said after several unsuccessful attempts to scare the squirrel away, the officer used his pepper spray on it to protect the welfare of the students.

One wonders which was the rabid beast...
