An adviser to Michele Bachmann says the Minnesota congresswoman is ending her bid to win the Republican presidential nomination after coming in last in the Iowa caucuses.
Bachmann finished sixth out of six candidates in the first of many contests to pick a Republican presidential candidate.
She canceled appearances planned for Wednesday in South Carolina and scheduled a news conference in Des Moines, Iowa, instead.
The adviser requested anonymity to speak before Bachmann makes the announcement late Wednesday morning.

Michele Bachmann's Iowa campaign Co-Chair, Tamara Scott: Idiot of the Day
I know I know, this comes from the Bachmann camp, where looney tunes is par for the course, but:
One of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to scaring people into not supporting gay marriage is using the "slippery slope" method.
You tell people that if gay marriage is made legal, it's only a matter of time before the state or country will be full of polygamists or men marrying turtles, as Bill O'Reilly has suggested, or, as Michele Bachmann's new Iowa campaign Co-Chair, Tamara Scott, is warning, women marrying the Eiffel Tower.
Scare tactics are one thing, but out and out over the top comedy? How's that working out for you?

Michele Bachmann signs another hate inspired pledge
Signing a pledge from a known hate group...nice.
Shocking no one, Michele Bachmann signed a pledge from the National Organization of Marriage, promising to do everything she can to keep gay people from being happily married.
In the recent past, Bachmann's gotten in a spot of trouble for signing an Iowa group's anti-gay pledge, mostly because that one said stupid things about shariah law, banning porn, and, least intelligent, black people and slavery.
Perhaps having learned a lesson, this time around the pledge itself is straightforward. Instead, attention will shift toward the group pushing the pledge.
The National Organization for Marriage is categorized as an anti-gay "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the national authority on bigotry.

Republican establishment steps in to sabotage Michele Bachmann
Can't have that level of hypocritical crazy get too far, now can we?
Trying to knock her out, Michele Bachmann insiders say she is “incapacitated” often.
The image of a pill-popping, incapacitated Michele Bachmann is being painted today by “former aides”, “three people who have worked closely with Bachmann”, unnamed witnesses, an unnamed adviser, and “some around her”. I doubt it’s any coincidence that the Daily Caller is reporting this on the heels of the news that Michele Bachmann is the “Grand Old Party’s” new front runner, as they are all quite aware of her limitations against President Obama.

Michele Bachmann enters Presidencial race in bid to make Sarah Palin seem less crazy
Nasty and petty as our local conservatives try to be, they can't even begin to compete with this level of crazy.
Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann is set to be the latest Republican to formally announce a bid for the US presidency in 2012.
Ms Bachmann, 55, a favourite of the economically conservative Tea Party movement, is to declare on Monday in the US state of Iowa - her birthplace.
A poll of party members there shows her virtually tied with frontrunner Mitt Romney, with 22% of the support.
The US is swinging like a bell culturally at the moment, so after Obama could come an equally wide swing to the Right.
