Iron Eyes Cody, most famous as the Crying Indian from the 1970's PSA, had a much longer career than I had thought.
This came up as he appears (uncredited) in DeMille's Union Pacific from 1939, but he appeared in over 200 films going back to 1927 (he died in 1999).
Anyway, turns out he wasn't native American at all, but was born Espera De Corti, son of Sicilian immigrants...
Hooray for Hollywood...
