Sick fucks
A self-guiding bullet that can steer itself towards its target is being developed for use by the US military.
The bullet uses tiny fins to correct the course of its flight allowing it to hit laser-illuminated targets.
It is designed to be capable of hitting objects at distances of about 2km (1.24 miles). Work on a prototype suggests that accuracy is best at longer ranges.
A think tank says the tech is well-suited to snipers, but worries about it being marketed to the public.
I'm sure orders for them are already pouring in...

The US Office of Naval Research proud it has better way to kill
The US Office of Naval Research says that it has successfully tested a new type of explosive material that can dramatically increase weapons' impacts.
Missiles made from the high density substance can explode with up to five times the energy of existing armaments.
The material mixes metals and polymers and is said to be as dense as steel but have the strength of aluminum.
US Navy scientists say that projectiles made from the new compound are less likely to kill innocent bystanders.

Fears mount over who will buy loose American tail
It has become clear that US special forces used a previously unseen stealth helicopter for the mission in order to evade Pakistani radar or being heard on the final approach to the home of the al-Qaeda terrorist.
The American troops used thermite grenades to destroy the helicopter’s main body but its rear section was left intact and taken away by the Pakistani military soon after the night raid on Monday. It is feared that if Islamabad refuses a request from Washington for the return of the tail section that the issue could turn into a diplomatic rift.

Whitewash supplies low as Pentagon clears General McChrystal
The Pentagon has cleared of wrongdoing a US general sacked after a magazine reported he and his staff had spoken disrespectfully about top US officials.
A Pentagon report found insufficient evidence Gen Stanley McChrystal, until June the top US general in Afghanistan, had violated US military policy.
It said events narrated in the magazine had not occurred as written. Rolling Stone said it stood by its article.

Major Idiot
If you're in the military, here's a tip: don't put upcoming missions in your Facebook status. You wouldn't think someone would need to tell you that, but here we are.
A raid on suspected militants in the West Bank was cancelled yesterday after an Israeli soldier updated his Facebook status to read "On Wednesday we clean up Qatanah, and on Thursday, god willing, we come home." The solider has since, unsurprisingly, been relieved of combat duty for being a moron. He'll also spend 10 days in prison for his update.

You can't try a machine for war crimes
I know, we don't try people for them either...well not Americans...
Smart missiles, rolling robots, and flying drones currently controlled by humans, are being used on the battlefield more every day. But what happens when humans are taken out of the loop, and robots are left to make decisions, like who to kill or what to bomb, on their own?
Cheney's wet dream?
robots be programmed to behave more ethically on the battlefield, they may actually be able to respond better than human soldiers...
The military mind can be very sick.

Movies and the military
If your "view" of the Iraq war needs be "shaped" by a military backed movie...you are simple clay indeed.
Burned by portrayals of Vietnam, the Pentagon focuses on a new era of filmmakers. 'It's important to tell the full story,' says Army Lt. Col. J. Todd Breasseale, who is deployed to Wilshire Boulevard.
